Food For Thought
Posted by Niecy on April 17th, 2009 under The Blog

My father said something to me that is food for thought; the measure of a man is – are you living the life you want to live? “Wow”, I thought. This is a simple statement, yet very profound….and it’s true! Well…..are you?

I love this quote! I would say it also applies to women as well.

  • T.Jordan Said on April 22nd, 2009 at 9:24 am

I wanted to say how much I admire you as a woman. You are a beautiful person and you are one of the women besides my Mom and Auntie that inspire me to be the best that I can be inside and out. I love your energy and personality, and please don’t ever leave CLEAN HOUSE!!=D

Hi Nicey, I was told earlier today of your appearance on The Doctors last night. I would love to talk to about the lymphedema. I have it too and have had it since birth (both legs/feet). I know we are not our illnesses so I want to add that I have watched you on Clean House and laughed and laughed.

I blog about my situation (and try to be funny about it, compression bandaging etc.) and also discuss in support groups etc. I want a celebrity who’s willing to admit they
have the condition. Someone who’s recognizable and will stand up and be counted.
Can you help us take lymphedema further out of the closet? I vow to even clean my closet if you will help.
Pls email me above or visit my blog.

I am a very curvy woman and I have been watching all the shows any noticed how you have slimmed down to a great FULL figure woman. I am 46 years old and a very FULL figure and can’t seem to lose anything. I work with women who have had breast cancer and fit them with prostetics and I am lucky that I don’t have cancer but can’t stand by chest. How did you do it and can you help me? Thank you and love your show.

Dear Niecy, So happy you are returning to Clean House!!! It is one of my favorite shows but without you it has no fire. I love you, girl, and hope that all is good for you and yours forever.

I want to say thank you to you and the rest of the team of Clean House. I have long been a fan of many of the home improvement shows, but Clean House gave me the courage to finally do something about my ‘space’. I listened each show as you encouraged people to give up things they had been holding on to for too long. I, too, had things that had been my mothers or aunts or . . . or some of those stuffed animals from my childhood and things I had purchased to do crafts with then ‘lost’ in the mess that was my entire house. I had made a few feeble attempts in the past to “Clean House”, but not successfully. NO ONE

  • Kitty Moore Said on May 6th, 2009 at 7:17 pm

NO ONE was allowed into my home. The front door would not even open all of the way because of the stuff piled in the foyer. Some rooms were completely inaccessable. Your show helped me realize that I am not alone in my dilemma. I finally hired and organization specialist, and she hauled off all of the stuff cluttering up my life. We went through every box, bag, closet, drawer, shelf, cabinet and sorted and gave away. I now live in a wonderfully clean and organized space. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU ! ! ! ! !

Love you love the shows, the quote – I wish your father had been mine. I”m 49 and miserable living a life I hate.

Peace girl, we all love you.

Yup! that does sound like something your daddy would say. Take care & nice job entertaining the crowd! PEACE & LOVE…

I Love watching clean house but wonder why a beautiful well educated Lady wants to talk like a street walker. every once in a while the true articulate Nicey shows her true self but the street talk I find offensive and degrading to all educated women Black or White. You are much better than that. Be proud of your finess.

  • Sowande Said on May 22nd, 2009 at 12:53 pm

Your father’s quote is something that I have always tried to live by. I was at CSU Northridge for a short while, before trotting off to law school in Boston where I am now. At Northridge, I had the BEST experience in a Chinese Philosophy class, where I learned about Daoism.

It couldn’t have been a lesson learned at a more appropriate time because life was so rough, as a young Black man from a small town, living in a big new city and paying and working his way through school.

Your pop is VERY wise (as I am certain you already know) and I hope you will shake his hand for me.

Oh, and I’m sorry lady above me, but educated people speak differently and have different ways of expressing themselves. Ignorant people judge one another based on those differences.

    Hi Miss Niecy!

I just wanted to say I love your show. I also really hate it when you have a guest host. You have a way of getting beyond the clutter and the mess and to the heart of the problem. It’s a wisdom that many people don’t get.

No matter who you are there is going to be tough times, challenging times and we all have at least one thing out of control in our lives – it might be obesity, an addiction, a secluded to your closets or it might be the whole house. People are human and they can’t handled everything … something always has to give.

Keep up the good work and keep inspiring these women who need you for their inspiration. You are having such a positive influence on so many people who needed it!

I enjoy clean house so much that I would watch it all the time including re-runs that I have seen 3 or 4 times alrady. Isn’t that weird. Maybe because my attic has a lot of foolishness and mayhem itself. Congratulation on this beautiful show…

Am I living the life I want to live – the answer varies from day-to-day with most days being a resounding YES! Parents can be such a source of wisdom – not becuse of what they say, but because they know us so well and can relate with us in a way that impacts us unlike any other. ciao – D

Am I living the like I want to live? Great question…not exactly but I am getting there. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of 2007, had a lumpectomy, radiation treatments and my mammograms have been great since. The good thing is our local hospital started a cancer survivor choir with grant money from The American Cancer Society last fall. I have always loved to sing, write and play the guitar a bit but for some reason I did not feel compelled to sing…now I have a reason to sing and we have had concerts, sung at local ball games and festivals. I am writing again too and very excited about life and the future. This is something that gets my creative juices flowing and is something that has become a passion. I am working my way round to that life so thank you Niecy and send a huge thank you to your dad for me…he must be a really smart, sensitive, and caring man…cause he raised such an amazing daughter! You rock and rule! T

I want to say and I know you must hear it all the time but, your so funny and very inspiring because you seem to be very very comfortable with who you are, you are very beautiful. I’m 40+ year old woman from new jersey and I’m not living the life I would like, I’m joyful spiritually that God has given me life but, I know I could be doing more with my life, and living the life that I dream to live.I definetly need help in that area to get it going….
I love your shows and pray they keep them on. We don’t have many entertainers like you, especially african american that is very well rounded and can keep humor in all that you do. Keep up the great work and keep inspiring us women with your beauty and well put together make up and wardrobe to empower us to look and feel our best.
ps tell Dad that was real good “food for thought” it got us all thinking and thinking on how to change and improve!!

  • Michelle Said on July 20th, 2009 at 8:05 pm

Niecy … Niecy … Niecy! I’ve caught your show upon occasion and I have to say that you are just a doll. You are sweet, compassionate, honest, funny, beautiful, sexy, funny, delightful, understanding and funny. You are one of a kind and, as a woman, I am proud of the way you handle yourself and the situations you find yourself in. It doesn’t matter if we’re white, black, red, yellow, purple … whatever. A sister is a sister and I wish you continued joy in your work .. in your life .. in your world. Keep shining, Niecy Nash. And keep the joy spreading. Thanks for making me smile so often.

    Niecy,
WOW! You’re a wonderful, beautiful, sexy lady who has “Brains n Booty”. As a relatively successful white middle age white businessman, I have to say to pay no attention to those who put you down for using less than university level English. You communicate very effectively and it is often more effective to drop the “king’s English” to get across your message. I have done the same for years, even hiding a university degree to prevent it getting in the way of people receiving the intended message. Keep us the good work, gal and I hope you will bring great delight to my TV for years to come.
